Frequently Asked Questions
I offer online counselling via Zoom to clients in the UK and internationally. Online therapy can offer flexibility and continuity, particularly if you travel, relocate or live between countries and cultures.
You can find more information about starting therapy, fees and how we might work together below.

Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy.
The first step is therefore a 50-minute introductory session, giving us an opportunity to meet and get a sense of what it might be like to work together.
We can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for, and any questions you may have. It is also a chance for us both to consider whether we feel we could work well together.
When you contact me, please include your availability and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
-
After the introductory session, if we decide to work together, we will usually meet weekly at the same time each week.
Our first counselling session gives us more space to explore your current situation and what you would like from therapy. We will also agree on a counselling contract covering confidentiality, cancellations, holidays, payment and other practical arrangements.
-
The introductory session is £60 / 580 RMB / 640 HKD.
Ongoing sessions are £85 / 800 RMB / 885 HKD per 50-minute session.
Payment is made 24 hours before each session via UK bank transfer, Wise, Alipay, WeChat Pay or HK FPS. Fees are reviewed annually in January.
-
All sessions take place online via Zoom.
-
Sessions are usually weekly, at the same day and time each week, and last 50 minutes.
-
There is no fixed length of therapy. Some people may find a few months helpful, while others choose to work together for several years. This will depend on your circumstances and what you would like to explore, and we can check in regularly about how the therapy is going.
-
Your regular session time is reserved for you. If you need to cancel or change a session, please give at least 7 days’ notice.
With sufficient notice, I will do my best to offer an alternative time where possible. With less than 7 days’ notice, the full session fee will be charged except in exceptional circumstances.

Yes. I work with clients internationally, including those based in Europe, Hong Kong, Mainland China and Singapore.
Due to insurance restrictions, I am currently unable to offer therapy to clients based in the US or Canada.
-
Please find a quiet and private space where you can speak freely and are unlikely to be interrupted.
It can also be helpful to leave a little space before and after the session to pause and transition into and out of the therapeutic space.

If you are currently experiencing severe or persistent suicidal thoughts, acute psychosis, severe substance or alcohol dependency, or other mental health difficulties that require more intensive or specialist support, working online may not be appropriate at this time.
In these circumstances, I would encourage you to seek support from your GP, local mental health services, or an appropriate specialist service in the country where you live.
